Joining The Competitive Swimming Scheme Through Swim Stars

1. Swim Stars is a 10 Week Programme of Lessons - Once joined up at the appropriate Fit City Centre under the Swim Stars 3 Group you will now be on our records and are allowed to attend a further free session at Pendleton College Pool on Wednesdays from 17.00 - 18.00
2. On receiving a recommendation for Trails you will attend the Wednesday Session at Pendleton College Pool and be assessed by our Trials Coach who will assess your ability to enter the Swim Stars 2 Group in the Competitive Swimming Scheme.
3. If unsuccessful you will continue swimming in your Swim Stars 3 Group for the next course of 10 weeks and try to attend the 2 x 1 Hour sessions per week on a regular basis.
4. If you are successful then you will fill out the necessary paperwork [on the day if you wish] and attend your appointed Level 2 Session with the paperwork signed. The group coach for Swim Stars 2 will probably advise you to start by attending 3 Sessions per week and build up to 5 per week during the course of your development.
5. As a member of Level 2 you will automatically sign up for membership of the City of Salford Swimming Club which is the Competitive vehicle of the Training Programme. You have to be a member of the Club in order to compete and enter competitions.
Joining by Trial
1. Usually swimmers are recomended by their teachers from lessons. However if you are from a different local authority, a member of a local club or club outside Salford then please contact - Lee.Holland@Salford.gov.uk 0161 7780550 to arrange a trial / assessment.
